Responsibilities:
The Program Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the EOC. The Program Director will report to the Executive Director of Sponsored Programs and Special Projects in the Office of Institutional Grants.
The Program Director will have the authority and responsibility to monitor all EOC
activities and ensure that university and federal regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures
are followed. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the target area and its educational and
economic challenges and assets. This position will be responsible for the tasks outlined in the
Plan of Operation (available upon request).
Qualifications:
Required Qualification:
Master’s degree in Education, Education Leadership, Counseling Education, CommunityDevelopment or Social Work or related field; Three to five years of experience in an educational setting working with disadvantaged populations, preferably those that are low-income, first-generation students, students with a disability, or non-traditional students, along with a strong commitment and understanding of diverse populations; Experience with effectively supervising staff; Knowledge and familiarity of higher education, financial aid, GED and ACT testing, and
admissions; Knowledge and understanding of the psychological, behavioral, and educational issues
affecting the learning potential of low-income, first-generation participants; Excellent oral and written communication skills; and Strong computer technology skills.Preferred qualifications:
Experience in implementing and administering a federally-funded program;
Experience in public promotions to persons from all socioeconomic conditions and
communities;
Successful grant writing record;
Experience with budget management;
Knowledge of Delta State University’s finance and procurement processes and use of
Banner and ARGOS
Experience with Ellucian’s Banner Finance; and
Individual who has succeeded in overcoming disadvantages and circumstances similar to
the target area population.
