Rhode Island College invites applicants for the full-time position of Director of Grant Accounting in the college’s Accounting Office. This is a full-time, calendar year, continuing position.

The Director of Grant Accounting will manage the day-to-day fiscal administration of the college’s sponsored project post-award activities. This includes accounting, audits, and financial compliance for projects funded by Federal, State, Foundation, non-profit, and corporate entities, in line with Federal, State, and College policies. Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), agency sponsors, principal investigators, and administrative staff to resolve grant administration issues. Analyze, approve, and process requisitions, reimbursements, and personnel appointments to ensure expenses comply with sponsor requirements. Prepare sponsor reports and analyze expenditure data. Implement control procedures and monitor financial terms in proposals for compliance with College policies.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of three years of progressive post-award grant experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Ability to manage research grants and contracts, financial management practices and contracting and subcontracting practices.
  • Working knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance and familiarity with federal, state, college and sponsor-level requirements for sponsored projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of applications in a PC/Windows environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting/ Business or related field.
  • Experience working with post award research administration software and/or Peoplesoft financials.
  • Detailed knowledge of applicable federal, state and other sponsor regulations related to sponsored projects, including OMB Uniform Guidance.
