Job Description Summary:Summary: Samuel Merritt University is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Program Coordinator for SMU’s Global Health Initiative (GHI). This position is crucial in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements related to student visas as well as professional licensure and state authorization across various academic programs/disciplines and across various states and territories in the U.S. The Coordinator provides support to GHI activities as determined by the Director of the GHI. The Coordinator manages the activities and anticipates the needs of the Initiative. The Coordinator recommends and initiates policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the GHI and to implement the Director’s decisions. The Coordinator carries out the requirements of the position with an exceptional level of independence, requiring little to no direct supervision. The Coordinator demonstrates a high level of discretion and good judgment both in sensitive and confidential matters, as well as in decisions on when to consult the Director before taking action. This position works closely with international students, SMU program directors and deans, and other stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides Assistance to the Director Regarding SEVIS Compliance (20%)
- Under supervision of Director coordinates necessary documentation, scheduling, and related activities for SEVIS compliance.
- As directed by Director, assists in compiling/researching information and statistics for GHI maintenance or growth as well as SEVIS reporting.
- Develops and maintain a comprehensive understanding and documentation of professional licensure requirements at the state level.
- Ensures that both general and personalized disclaimers/notifications are published to potential and current students as required by state and federal regulations.
- Researches and compiles information on state authorization requirements for SMU’s distance education programs and programs that place students in out of state clinical experiences.
- Assists in the preparation and submission of state authorization applications and renewals.
- Maintains calendar for the Director, as requested.
- Initiates independent action relative to written communications including but not limited to memos, correspondence, requests for information, and forms.
- Attends and acts as recorder at meetings. Independently confirm with all attendees that action items have been completed, including Chair.
- Manages department/program budgets including generation of requests for disbursement, requisitions, purchase orders, and other such material as needed.
- Initiates, designs, implements, and coordinates all GHI administrative and extracurricular activities.
- Interviews, hires, and manages any work-study students.
- Establishes and maintain a centralized database for tracking state and federal compliance information.
- Generates reports and documentation to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations.
- Develops and implements record-keeping protocols to ensure the accuracy and completeness of compliance records.
- Works with key stakeholders to establish an efficient and accurate notification system to inform students enrolled in programs of their compliance status.

- Bachelor's degree required in an administrative field, preferred master’s degree.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as administrative support in a fast-paced, multi-task environment requiring a high degree of accuracy and independent activity.

Hourly wage range: $23.21 ~ $30.17
Samuel Merritt University currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location, and other relevant skills.
