Position Summary
Under the leadership of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director for CPDCR will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the Center for Professional Development and Career Readiness. The Director will provide comprehensive student leadership, career, internship and student employment services to a diverse student population. Assists students and alumni with career coaching, internship opportunities, and student employment. Director will be instrumental in supporting the development of students’ financial well-being and leadership opportunities through a strengths-based cultural context. Director will create a vision, in partnership with university leadership, to accomplish this. The director will be the main contact for managing clubs and organizations, elections of student senate, campus leadership roles, as well as other student programming that develop students’ strengths and durable skills. The director will be responsible for developing and managing student trainings on the use of the student engagement co-curricular transcript system as well as development and reflection of their out-of-classroom learning experiences with the goal of demonstrating competency in leadership and professional domains while documenting this through the co-curricular transcript system.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Administers departmental operation including project implementation and review; proposal writing and submission; budget and record management; assisting students; and dissemination and promotion of information about programs and services;
· Facilitate all aspects of the student professional and leadership engagement program;
· Arrange and implement a variety of approaches to promote student and employer contact;
· Manage the NMHU co-curricular transcript system providing training for students, staff/faculty, and employers on the use of the system;
· Monitors and revises all components of career readiness, student employment, internship opportunities, and student professional/leadership development;
· Direct and manage NMHU Clubs and Organizations to include providing training for students and staff/faculty advisors on policies and procedures;
· Identify and assist students in obtaining information concerning their skills, abilities, qualifications and availability for the purpose of facilitating employment and establishing leadership opportunities;
· Facilitate regular meetings for clubs and organizations;
· Maintain contact with students eligible for jobs and internships;
· Administer campus elections, specifically for Student Senate and homecoming;
· Disseminates information on all career, internships, student employment, and professional/leadership development opportunities through various modalities including print materials, website, campus and community publications, presentations to faculty, staff and students, and through presentations to employer, civic and alumni groups;
· Acts as liaison among faculty, community groups, the public and others making them aware of the student professional and leadership engagement program;
· Arrange and promote presentations by employers, internship providers, career consultants, alumni faculty and staff members, community organizations, etc.;
· Serves as the co-advisor to the Student Senate, along with the Dean of Students;
· Develop and conduct workshops and presentations on career service/readiness related topics, internships, job search techniques (resume writing, cover letter development, interview skills, professional social media, etc.), and strengths-based professional/leadership development;
· Works directly with students and staff to obtain information and make referrals;
· Stay abreast regarding information on current trends in the labor market and student development; and best practices in career services/readiness;
· Represents the university to various institutional divisions as well as externally to government agencies, vendors, students, parents, and/or the general public;
· Provide information concerning graduate and professional academic programs as well as employer-sponsored graduate and training programs;
· Conducts assessment (1st Destination Survey) of graduates and disseminates this information to the appropriate on-campus departments;
· Complete co-curricular assessment of Career Services and Student Employment programs on a regular basis;
· Schedules and arranges events to include but not limited to the Career Fair, including recruiting employer and student participants;
· Develops and maintains a good working relationship with faculty, staff, students and community members;
· Provides regular reports to supervisor;
· Develops and maintains complete, accurate and updated records;
· Monitors, implements, and maintains career service-related technology (Optimal Resume, Handshake, People Admin, Co-curricular transcripts, etc.);
· Collaborate with the Financial Aid and Human Resources departments to develop and maintain student employee handbook/policies/procedures;
· Provide guidance and direction to student clubs and organizations with a focus on student professional/leadership development;
· Supervise staff and student employees;
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in a business or education-related field.
· At least three (3) years experience working with students in a higher education setting.
Preferred Qualifications
· Graduate degree;
· At least five (5) years experience working in education, industry, business, or as a small business owner.

· Knowledge of and ability to develop and implement culturally relevant content.
