Description
A postdoctoral researcher position is available in connected and autonomous off-road vehicles at Clemson University in South Carolina. The candidates will work with faculty mentors and researchers in the two departments of Civil Engineering and Automotive Engineering and will be co-supervised by Drs. Murray-Tuite and Schmid. The appointment is for one year but may be extended for an additional year.

The postdoctoral researcher will participate in an interdisciplinary, funded research project related to routing fleets of autonomous vehicles in unstructured environments. This project is part of Clemson's VIPR-GS research center. The postdoctoral candidate is expected to conduct research within a larger team led by Drs. Murray-Tuite and Schmid and should have strong technical, communication, and project management skills. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Candidates should hold a PhD degree in automotive, civil, industrial, or mechanical engineering or a related field with documented qualifications as follows: at least 3 years of research experience; fluency in English; excellent communication skills; demonstrated technical competence in the above areas; a solid publication record; and strong coding skills. The willingness and ability to acquire new skills and knowledge as needed during the project; to work effectively and cooperatively with others; and to manage time effectively is expected. Other desired qualifications include experience with ROS and GIS as well as proficiency in optimization, control, and game theory.
