Job Summary
Maintain continued competence in assigned and related areas. Maintain a good working relationship with students, faculty, staff, and members of the community. Assist in the college’s recruitment and retention efforts. Assist with college governance by serving on college committees. Observe college rules/regulations and state guidelines appropriate to faculty responsibilities.
Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating and Celebrating.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out instructional duties, which maximize learning by students.
- Supervise students in accordance with program procedures, academic, and course related concerns.
- Teach assigned courses in accordance with course descriptions and for the full period as scheduled.
- Assist with registration and/or recruitment when requested.
- Furnish each student with a course syllabus which follows the prescribed format, including evaluation procedures, withdrawal procedures, class attendance, and other polices consistent with college procedures, and office phone and e-mail access.
- Attend all scheduled or called meetings by the President or Vice President of Workforce, AVP of Health Professions and Director of MLT, and LSSC supervisor, unless excused by the administrator in charge.
- Evaluate student progress and achievement with clear methods presented on course syllabus, utilize evaluation results for planning, instruction, counseling, and program modification in consultation with supervisor
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records.
- Submit grade reports and other required data on or before deadline dates.
- Resolve discipline problems within sphere of responsibility.
- Assist and counsel students as needed.
- Utilize material and equipment necessary to accomplish designated tasks.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current instructional developments.
- Regularly examine content of assigned courses and recommend changes to curriculum committee as needed.
- Comply with appropriate administrative rules/regulations and Board Policy.
- Participate in an annual evaluation process as specified by the Vice President of Workforce.
- Maintain continuity of communication with students, community, faculty, staff, and supervisors though timely replies to meetings, phone, mail and email request.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated computer technology proficiency in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Teams, & PowerPoint)
- Effectively communicate in both a virtual and physical environment
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to successfully demonstrate knowledge and expertise in applied field
- Adhere to all workplace safety rules, safety laws, regulations, standards and practices
- Ability to work various hours including nights, early morning and weekends
- Ability to travel amongst various campuses and attend College events, or off campus, as required
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in MLT or MLS, Master’s degree preferred.
- Post-secondary teaching experience
- Two (2) most recent years of MLT lab experience
