Job Summary:
A part-time instructor in the Mathematics department would typically teach courses ranging from MTH 20 – Basic Mathematics through MTH 112 – Trigonometry, depending on experience and qualifications. A Masters degree or 27 quarter hours of graduate credits in Mathematics is required to teach transfer level courses.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics plus 12 quarter hours of graduate credits in Mathematics or a related field.
- Prefer Masters degree or 27 graduate quarter hours in Mathematics and teaching experience in a high school, community college, or university setting.
Requires the ability to work with staff and students.
Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
Essential Duties:
- Teaches a variety of levels of mathematics courses. Course assignments may include day, evening or weekend classes on main campus or at the Extended Learning Centers.
- Develops course schedules and syllabi.
- Promotes excellence, enthusiasm, and excitement in the teaching of mathematics.
- Identifies and meets the mathematical learning needs of students.
- Develops and administers instruments for assessing student progress and competence such as exams, quizzes, and written exercises.
- Works effectively with students and staff of various cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and ages and successfully interacts with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an education team.
- Communicates effectively in oral and written English.
- Keeps accurate grade and attendance records.

Salary and Compensation Information:
Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the payscale, with steps being “rolled” once per term.

As a condition of employment, all new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
