Job Description
This position assists students in learning various technical competencies involved in the construction of overhead and underground high voltage electrical systems. This also includes the operation of various line work equipment including aerial bucket trucks, digger derricks and trencher backhoe.

Job Description
This position assists students in learning various technical competencies involved in the construction of overhead and underground high voltage electrical systems. This also includes the operation of various line work equipment including aerial bucket trucks, digger derricks and trencher backhoe.
Responsibilities
- On a daily basis, live the mission, vision and values of M
State to ensure a positive experience for all students and
stakeholders. Service to M State students and stakeholders is a
core component of the position and work responsibilities.
- Assist students with lab activities by demonstrating lab
projects to large and small groups of students.
- Demonstrate and orientate students on the proper and safe way
to use or operate machinery or equipment (Lineworker machinery and
equipment).
- Provide as much support as necessary but teach self-advocacy in
our students in order for them to learn to do for themselves as
much as possible. Each student is responsible for his/her
success.
- Evaluate student progress on a daily basis. Maintain
confidentiality regarding students at all times. The names of the
students, their abilities or any personal information about the
student shall not be discussed with anyone other than the program
instructor.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth
functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the
organization as a viable business partner.
- Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or
relevant licensure in electrical lineworker technology; OR
- 6 months of teaching/tutoring experience in electrical
lineworker technology at the high school level or above; OR
- 2 years of work experience in electrical lineworker technology
where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and work
experience.
- A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required. A drug test is
a condition for employment.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment sufficient to instruct others
in its proper use and to perform routine maintenance.
- Knowledge of lab practices, techniques and safety standards
sufficient to determine the physical layout of a lab and to prepare
various lab materials and experiments.
- Customer service skills sufficient to actively listen to and
understand customer needs and provide accurate information and
appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, courteous,
respectful, and professional manner.
- Able to plan, assign, and evaluate the work of student
assistants in the performance of routine lab work.
- Ability to develop and maintain lab records and reports.
- Monday - Thursday: 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 7 a.m. to 11
a.m.
- Hours: 40 hours per week
