Job Description
This position exists to recruit students based on the annual college and program recruitment goals. The overall objective of this position is to coordinate, implement, and evaluate all activities that educate and inform prospects, parents, high school personnel, and referral agencies which includes both in-person and virtual capacities. The admissions representative serves as a spokesperson for the college through presentations, meetings, and communications with prospective students, high school counselors and teachers, and community referrals; again, functioning in both in-person/traditional and virtual recruitment/outreach. The position also maintains the critical link between Student Affairs, the college faculty & staff and will work collaboratively with Inver Hills Community College.

8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday
7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Friday

Founded in 1970, Inver Hills is a comprehensive community college offering 40 program options and degrees including the Associate in Arts (A.A.), a liberal arts education degree that leads to transfer to four-year colleges; the Associate in Fine Art (A.F.A.) degree in studio arts; and the career-related Associate in Science (A.S.) and Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees in leading occupational areas such as nursing, paralegal, computer networking, law enforcement, human services, business, emergency medical services, teacher education, and more.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree AND two years of experience in higher
education, student personnel, counseling, advising, or other
related field, OR a combination of a 2-year degree and 2 or more
years work experience in higher education, student personnel,
counseling, advising, or other related field.
- Ability to develop and deliver public presentations to various
audiences.
- Customer service skills sufficient to perform duties with
courtesy and respect. Answer phones, refer callers, meet and greet
visitors with courtesy and respect and provide prompt courteous and
accurate information to customers in person, on the phone and
through email as well as written correspondence.
- Proficiency with a variety of word processing, database, and
web-based applications sufficient to accurately collect data and
create reports.
- Proficient organizational skills.
- Organizational skills sufficient to process and maintain data
and manage multiple and diverse responsibilities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong
interpersonal skills are needed since the position is highly
interactive with a variety of people.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Valid driver’s license, ability to travel to multiple locations
in the local service area.
- 2 years of professional level experience in recruiting and
admissions, student affairs, or higher education.
- Working knowledge of relevant high school and Work Force center
processes and principles.
- Knowledge of Minnesota State’s Integrated Student Record System
(ISRS) and a customer relations management system (i.e.
Connect).
- Independent decision-making skills sufficient to make
appropriate, well-thought-out admissions, testing, technology
support and student records recommendations.
- Knowledge of private data practices and FERPA.
- Experience providing direct service to internal and external
stakeholders in higher education.
- Experience working with international (F-1) students and/or
concurrent enrollment (PSEO) populations.
- Experience with Customer Relation Management systems.
- Knowledge of basic principles of database management and the
ability to enter and retrieve data.
- Self-motivated/self-disciplined.
- Fluency in another/other language(s) in addition to
English.
