About the Library

The Pima Community College Library empowers our patrons to achieve their academic and life goals, providing research support, instruction, collections, and spaces for intellectual exploration. We offer services and resources online and at five campus libraries.

About the Position

Pima Community College Library is seeking an enthusiastic and student focused librarian for the position of Educational Support Faculty Librarian. The successful candidate will serve at PCC’s largest campus library, West. The position includes responsibilities for providing information literacy instruction, reference services, and research consultations (both online in and in person), and engaging in collection development. The librarian in this position will serve as a liaison to academic program areas in Health professions.

Library Faculty teach and work a flexible schedule of 169 days (9 months) over a twelve-month period, July through June, that may include day, evening, and weekend duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, provide, and assess contextualized information literacy instruction in both online and face to face modalities; Serve as embedded librarian in selected courses utilizing the D2L Brightspace LMS;
  • Assist students, faculty, staff, and administrators in accessing relevant, reliable, accurate information; Provide reference consultations, demonstrations and workshops, and participate in the Library’s live chat service;
  • Produce research guides, tutorials, and other resources to promote and support student learning through the use of library materials, tools, and services;
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the library collection as a resource for students, staff, faculty, and administrators;
  • Engage in outreach and promotional activities to the campus and community;
  • Serve as a liaison librarian to academic program areas in the Health Professions, enhancing our support efforts for students and faculty in these fields, participating in program accreditation efforts and exploring the program curriculum to identify new opportunities for library support;
  • Actively engage in Library assessment efforts, developing and providing expertise in areas such as continuous quality improvement and UX (User eXperience) assessment methodologies.
  • Assist in providing oversight for the Library’s institutional archives.
  • Maintain competency and currency in librarianship and emerging technologies;
  • Represent the department and/or campus on college-wide committees;
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students and utilize a collegial style in all forms of communication.

Job Requirements

Minimum qualifications requirements for faculty positions are governed by our faculty qualification standards. This position is in an Academic discipline and requires the following to obtain Pima Community College teaching certification:
  • Master’s degree from a library and information studies program accredited by the American Library Association.
The selected candidate will:
  • Work a flexible schedule including afternoons and evenings as needed to meet student demand
  • Work in multiple modalities, including in-person and online
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of or experience with providing library services to students and faculty in the fields of health professions, such as nursing, pharmacy technology, dental studies, fitness & wellness, etc.
  • Collection development experience
  • Assessment experience
  • Experience with archival work
  • Academic library experience
  • Experience creating web-based content such as research guides, tutorials, etc.
  • Experience with course management software

Degrees and courses qualifying for Pima Community College teaching certification must be from a regionally accredited college or university. Applicants currently in progress for a degree or additional coursework to meet the minimum qualifications must have the degree conferred and/or coursework completed by August 2024.

A degree from any college outside of the United States (even if the transcript is in English) may need to be evaluated by a foreign transcript evaluation service. Pima Community College requires that applicants use an evaluation agency that is a member of NACES or AACRAO's corporate partners

    2. legible (front and back) and show the name of the regionally accredited institution, the degree conferred, and the page(s) explaining the institution's grading system
    3. attached to the application even if they have been submitted in the past


The selected candidate(s) must provide Faculty Qualifications & Hiring with official (unopened) transcripts and/or official (unopened) foreign transcript evaluation.

Selection Process:

The selection process typically consists of one or two advisory group interview(s), a teaching demonstration, and an administrative interview.

Candidates invited to the interview process will be chosen from those who most closely meet the stated requirements. Meeting these qualifications does not guarantee an interview.
