Summary of Job Duties:The successful applicant will conduct research evaluating the impact of off-target Auxin herbicide movement on vegetation (both native and field crop) and pollinators. This is a part of an USDA-ARS funded collaborative project. Duties will include designing and conducting experiments to provide insights into the overall objective, assisting with other research projects across both weed science and entomology disciplines, and managing/mentoring undergraduate and graduate research assistants. Additional tasks will include statistical analysis and writing of both scientific journal and Extension publications. Research will be diverse and include field, greenhouse, and laboratory components.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Entomology, Weed Science, or closely related subject matter degree
  • Demonstrated competence to independently implement on-farm research
  • Experience operating farm equipment
  • Experience working with pesticides, specifically herbicides in field crop settings
  • Writing experience both for scientific journal and Extension publications
  • Experience working with bees and/or other pollinators in research-oriented settings
  • Demonstrated experience working with pollinators, pollen analysis, and pesticides


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated competence in statistical analysis and interpretation
  • Willingness to learn and work in a cross-disciplinary setting
