Duties & Responsibilities

VCU Athletics is seeking a talented Assistant Men's Golf Coach.

Summary

The Assistant Men’s Golf Coach’s primary purpose is coaching and providing VCU Men’s Golf student-athletes with high-level instruction in the sport of Golf at the NCAA Division l level to prepare them for competition in local, regional, and national arenas. Successfully recruit academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes; Evaluate prospective student-athletes, including international student-athletes; Maintain accurate files of current and prospective student-athletes and required NCAA, A10, and University paperwork; Assist with travel involved with recruitment, games/matches, and tournaments; Assist with monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes; Assist the head coach with the golf annual budget; Assist with the operation and management of a home golf tournament; Assist with ordering equipment or supplies; and Operating and translating data from golf-specific technologies.



Typical Duties


● Successfully recruit academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes;
● Coach and train student-athletes at the NCAA Division I level to prepare them for competition in local, regional, and national arenas;
● Evaluate prospective student-athletes, including international student-athletes;
● Maintain accurate files of current and prospective student-athletes and required NCAA, A10, and University paperwork;
● Assist with travel involved with recruitment, games/matches, and tournaments;
● Assist with monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes;
● Assist the head coach with the golf annual budget;
● Assist with the operation and management of a home golf tournament;
● Assist with ordering equipment or supplies; and
● Operating and translating data from golf-specific technologies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum hiring standards include:
A bachelor's degree;
Valid driver's license;
Knowledge of NCAA, A10, and University regulations regarding NCAA Golf; and
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred hiring standards include:
Previous playing experience at a collegiate level or comparable in the sport of golf;
Proficient with social media; and
Operating knowledge of golf-specific technologies and interest in using them to develop golfers.

Required Licenses/ Certifications
Must have First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications or achieve certifications within 30 days of hire.
