Job Description

The Division of Applied Social Sciences (DASS) seeks applications for Assistant/Associate Professor to support teaching and research relating to energy and environmental economics. This is a nine month, tenure track appointment position with an equal appointment split between teaching and research.

The successful candidate will have research and teaching interests and expertise at the intersection of energy and environmental economics. The particular focus is on energy market structures, industry organization, and the impact of environmental policies and regulations on market operations, environmental externalities, and human health. Experience teaching courses in energy economics and environmental economics at the undergraduate and graduate level is preferred. A program of research and scholarship consistent with that of a faculty member in an AAU research university is required, including a track record of or strong signal of potential for obtaining external funding.

DASS is home to several research and outreach centers, including the Financial Research Institute (FRI), the Graduate Institute of Cooperative Leadership (GICL), the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute (FAPRI), the Rural and Farm Finance Policy Analysis Center (RaFF), the Interdisciplinary Center for Food Security, and the McQuinn Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership. DASS has a strong tradition of granting faculty extraordinary latitude to develop new and innovative centers, programs, and activities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in economics, agricultural economics, environmental economics, or a related social sciences discipline by the time of appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated on: Effectiveness of research, including publications in peer reviewed journals, and effectiveness in obtaining competitive external funding. Willingness to collaborate with DASS colleagues and other faculty on the MU campus. Effectiveness of teaching. Success in working with undergraduate and graduate students in a learning and mentoring environment. Interpersonal skills and the ability to lead within an academic environment. Willingness to adapt as change arises.
