Job Summary:

The Pediatric Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Program Coordinator will contribute to the development and implementation of departmental medical student programming across the four year curriculum, as well as ongoing program evaluation, improvement, and expansion; partnering with key stakeholders including the Director of Pediatric UME; Course Directors; and Program Manager and Assistant. The UME Program Coordinator will: assist with the development and implementation of multi-source assessments; organize didactic sessions; partner with clinical divisions to create student clinical schedules; orient department and affiliate coordinators and teaching faculty to curriculum, policies and logistics; and serve as a primary contact for the program and as a resource to advise learners of policies and procedures. The UME Program Coordinator will have a thorough understanding of internal and external accreditation rules and regulations; maintain accurate records of curriculum, evaluations and participation; and assist with the management of the education budget and processing of expenses.

Responsibilities: Coordinates and contributes to the development and implementation of the administrative activities of a health professions program as outlined in accreditation program requirements and other regulatory agencies. Must utilize fundamental knowledge of these requirements to manage workflow components of the administrative and professional responsibilities for the program's learners while serving as the primary liaison between program or course directors, learners, clinical and basic science teaching faculty, institutional offices, and affiliated teaching sites concerning program matters. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
  • 10% Maintains a thorough understanding of accreditation program requirements, regulatory requirements, and hospital/clinical setting and program policies to ensure accreditation and compliance with regulatory bodies and pertinent policies
  • 20% Contributes to the design, development and implementation of curriculum, evaluations and both computer-based and performance-based assessments
  • 20% Schedules evaluations, assessments, and teaching sessions, and creates and maintains the academic year calendar and/or clinical rotation schedules
  • 15% Maintains accurate records of the curriculum, evaluations, and participation
  • 15% Orients department and affiliate site coordinators and teaching faculty to curriculum, policies, and logistics
  • 5% Serves as the primary contact for the program, liaising with those directly associated with the program, institutional offices, and affiliated teaching sites, in and out of the state of Wisconsin
  • 5% Serves as resource to advise learners of program/institutional policies and procedures
  • 10% May manage the unit budget and approve unit expenditures

Qualifications:

Required:
- Experience in medical education

Preferred:
- Knowledge of and proficiency using software programs/systems, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as project management tools
- Demonstrated experience working both independently and in a team environment to coordinate multiple complex projects and programs
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and proactive working style, personable and welcoming attitude and proven ability to collaborate effectively

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 80% - 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
