Job Summary
The Director of Communities In Schools of Milledgeville-Baldwin County is responsible for the overall management of Communities In Schools (CIS) Milledgeville-Baldwin County, assuring all aspects of the initiative are consistent with CIS and Georgia College & State University policies and guidelines. The director also serves as the Certified Literate Community Program (CLCP) director, and assures all aspects are consistent with CLCP policies and guidelines. The director works with the community to provide engagement in literacy efforts and is responsible for all financial and reporting systems.
Responsibilities
Directing - 40
Provides visionary leadership to the organization and prioritizes implementing and monitoring the strategic plan. Ensures programs are operating at the highest levels possible based on implementation science and are true to the mission. Ensures that staff receive the training and support they require to remain current and effective. Stays current on the latest research on dropout prevention and evidence-based practices which could have implications for CISMBC programs. Works with the Board to create a long-term strategic plan, annual plan, advocacy plan, and fundraising strategy plans. Establishes and maintains strong and effective relationships with Baldwin County Public School leadership; builds partnerships with other organizations when working together to advance common goals. Ensures that CISMBC is represented and playing an active role with government agencies, commissions and committees charged with issues affecting education/dropout prevention. Serves as the organization's primary spokesperson to the public and private sectors, policy makers, funders and the media; increases awareness of CISMBC's role in the community, impact and goals for the future.
Directing (Continued) -
Prioritize preserving and growing the organization's reputation and communicating consistent and unified messaging. Serves as the primary liaison with CIS of Georgia, CIS National and the Georgia Certified Literate Community Program; involves other staff and Board members, as appropriate, for leadership development, training and as a service to the field. Sets the tone in creating a healthy, supportive and productive work environment. Supervises, evaluates and mentors staff in multiple locations. Supervises Georgia College& State University student staff and GCSU volunteers. Provides opportunities for GCSU students to work on projects, i.e. Mass Communications, Public School Outreach, Parent/Adult programs, etc. and to attend professional board of directors and other community engagement meetings.
Budget - 20
Finance, Operations and Data Management- Raises funds required to sustain Communities In Schools of Milledgeville-Baldwin County and the Baldwin County Certified Literate Community Program ' staff , programs and operations. Develops and monitors the organization's budget and ensures all records and documents are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations; prepares financial and budget reports for the Board of Directors monthly; prepares revenue and expenditure forecasts; and monitors expenditures/revenues and recommends budget revisions. Ensures invoices are paid timely and records are kept in compliance with Fiscal Policies and Procedures. Evaluates the organization's policies and procedures on a regular basis. Creates an array of fundraising strategies including government, foundations, business, fundraiser and individual opportunities. Maintains a portfolio of top current funders/donors and prospects including individuals and corporations. Develops grant applications, provides grant administration and prepares grant reports. Monitors and ensures proper use of the CIS Data Management system as well as the compilation of year-end data and outcomes and their appropriate and accurate reporting. Works with College of Business Graduate Assistant to provide hands-on business services experience.
Program Management - Georgia College - 20
Works with GCSU to provide opportunities for faculty, staff and students to become involved with literacy programs for the benefit of GCSU, CISMBC, the Baldwin County School System and the Milledgeville/Baldwin community; secures external funding for GCSU & CISMBC initiatives; recruits and coordinates GCSU volunteers to implement GCSU/CISMBC initiatives; and develops and supervises CISMBC internship programs for GCSU students.
Program Management - Programs - 20
Develops programs and materials to advance the public profile of Communities In Schools that will promote the organization within the state, city, community and in the media, as one of the premiere organizations on issues related to dropout prevention, collaborative partnerships, after-school programs and student success in school. Build, lead, and supervise a site coordinator team that works closely with school staff, families, volunteers, and community partners in the implementation of the CIS model. Ensures the completion of the annual school needs assessments for each site in the program. Manages the implementation of each school's site operations plan based on the needs assessment. Guide site coordinators in development and implementation of the site plan, including: measurable objectives, procedures for delivering school/community-wide programs, class/group-wide programs, and targeted case management services, progress monitoring and service modifications as needed, and evaluation and documentation of site plan effectiveness. Provides employment opportunities to GCSU students. Recruits, trains, places and recognizes GCSU student volunteers, service-learning programs and internship student staff providing community outreach in the Baldwin County School system.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Public administration, education, social science, or related field.
