The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Professor-in-Residence, Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for three (3) full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track teaching faculty members (Assistant Professor in Residence) to begin Fall, 2025. The primary responsibilities for these positions are the development and instruction of undergraduate courses for our traditional students and for our online degree program. This includes psychology courses at the introductory (statistics, research methods), foundational (psychopathology, cognitive, development, perception, neuroscience, and social) and upper-division levels, as well as courses for our neuroscience major (e.g., cellular and molecular/cognitive neuroscience) and for the College of Liberal Arts first-year experience course. Coverage of topics such as forensic psychology, children’s mental health, and capstone in psychology would be helpful. Career advancement is available with evidence of continued professional development and service contributions. The Department seeks individuals who are committed to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive. Further, the Department seeks dynamic and enthusiastic individuals with a Ph.D. in psychology or related discipline, a commitment to undergraduate education, substantial teaching experience (including online teaching), and a willingness to work with a program coordinator for purposes of assessment and quality control.

The Department has 35 full-time faculty members, a B.A. program in psychology, a B.S. program in neuroscience, an APA-accredited Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology, a Ph.D. program in Psychological and Brain Sciences with cognitive, developmental, and quantitative/social/community areas of study, and is affiliated with a campus-wide interdisciplinary Neuroscience Ph.D. program.

This position requires a Ph.D. in Psychology or related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and a willingness to work with a program coordinator for purposes of assessment and quality control. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date. ABD will be considered.

A successful candidate will support diversity, equity, and inclusiveness and contribute to a respectful, positive work environment. They will use our Campus Values to guide their decisions and actions and demonstrate our Rebel spirit.

Submit a letter of interest, teaching statement, diversity statement (describing how you address diversity, equity, and inclusion in the scope of your teaching, mentoring, and broader work) a detailed vita listing qualifications and experience, and the names, addresses, email addresses, and telephone numbers of at least three professional references who may be contacted. References will not be contacted until the search chair notifies you in advance.

Applicants should fully describe their qualifications and experience, with specific reference to each of the minimum and preferred qualifications because this is the information on which the initial review of materials will be based.

Although this position will remain open until filled, review of candidates’ materials will begin on October 1, 2024.

Materials should be addressed to Dr. Paul Nelson, Search Committee Chair, and must be submitted through Workday, as we do not accept emailed materials. For assistance with the application process, please contact UNLV Human Resources at (702) 895-3504 or UNLVJobs@unlv.edu.
