Summary of Job Duties:Summary
The Assistant/Associate Professor - General Nutrition is a non-tenure track faculty member of the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service who provides educational leadership in an area of assigned program responsibility. The position collects, evaluates, interprets, & develops subject matter information for dissemination through the Extension delivery system. The position provides support to field faculty & serves as a recognized reference source for the organization in the area of expertise.

Job Duties:
Provides leadership for statewide programs in human nutrition. Collaborates with others to determine content, priorities and emphasis for human nutrition programming. Supports planning activities with leaders and clientele groups, extension faculty, county extension councils and nutrition committees and councils. Identifies areas in human nutrition that could be impacted by Extension programming efforts for the benefit of the citizens of Arkansas. Locates, adapts and/or develops curricula and related support materials for county use.

Provides/recommends nutrition curricula to county faculty and assists with program implementation as appropriate. Delivers programs upon request throughout the state. Seeks feedback and input from agents on client needs and curricular content. Evaluates program outcomes and/or impacts in concert with agents whenever possible. Communicates program results through required reports.

Establishes and enhances mutual support among individuals, groups and organizations that have human nutrition-related responsibilities, resources and/or audiences. Coordinates with statewide organizations and agencies in developing nutrition education programs of mutual interest. Builds partnerships with agents, government, agencies, businesses, outreach partners and organizations to create, strengthen or extend educational programs. Serves on external boards and committees as appropriate to enhance networking and partnerships that enhance nutrition programming. Works with colleagues in other states and UA campus faculty to develop relevant programming. Works to exert initiative and influence within the organization and across the state and region in area of expertise.

Maintains technical competence with respect to developments in human nutrition and serves as a source of up-to-date information about nutrition trends and research findings for Extension personnel. Pursues professional development regarding methodology of delivering and managing Extension nutrition education programs.

Seeks grants and resources to develop and enhance nutrition education programs. Participates in grant-funded projects led by colleagues as appropriate. Manages related accounts, grants, and resources in compliance with policy guidelines.

Conducts and supports educational activities using direct and/or indirect contact methods to teach or assist extension personnel. Responds to internal requests in a timely manner. Provides research updates to county faculty as appropriate.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
An earned Doctorate in N utrition, Health, Family & Consumer Sciences or a related field. The candidate must also be a registered Dietician.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to obtain & interpret research information. Ability to anticipate changing trends in assigned discipline area & develop programs to address those changes. Knowledge of the principles & techniques of adult education. Knowledge of the program planning process. Ability to work effectively with a variety of professional & lay audiences. Ability to communicate & convey ideas effectively to faculty, stakeholder groups, & clientele. Knowledge of social, economic, political & cultural factors affecting adult & youth learning. Physical & mental ability to effectively perform the duties & responsibilities of the job, including long & irregular hours of work & frequent in-state & out-of-state travel.
