Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Employer Relations and Internships provides leadership to the department in partnership with the Director and the Assistant Director of Pre-professional & Graduate school planning. Supervises a team of two Internship Coordinators and one Internship Coordinator II, who work with students, academic and student life departments, and external agencies. Manages new and existing employer relationships to facilitate job and internship opportunities for students. The AD promotes and plans campus interview days, career fairs, networking events, and other activities related to professional development, and budgets related to career fairs. The AD works with the Director to establish, support and maintain partnerships with alumni relations, leadership programs, and academic departments. This position leads and supervises liaison relationship between the Colleges as it pertains to internships and employer relations and oversees and trains staff member who manages the university academic internship documentation process for a variety of majors, which includes regular communication with faculty. Additionally, the AD assists in leading the data collection and analysis of First Destination Survey results.
Responsibilities
Recruitment - 20%
Researches potential new employers and conduct in-person, phone, email, and other types of communication outreach to potential and existing employer partners to promote on-campus recruitment opportunities such as job postings, campus interviews, resume collections, career fairs, and professional development activities to facilitate job and internship opportunities for students. Maintain and develop existing employer partnerships to enhance in-person and virtual campus recruitment opportunities. Participate in networking and professional organizations for the purpose of promoting GCSU students to new employment opportunities.
Event Planning - 10%
Plans and implements campus interview days, employer mock interview programs, networking events, and career fairs, to include promoting events to potential employers.
Advising - 40%
Advise and coach students in one-on-one and group settings (including workshops and class presentations) to include but not limited to general employability skills, resume reviews, mock interviews, career and major exploration, professional career transition topics, job, internship, and graduate and professional school search strategies.
Supervision - 15%
Supervise, train, guide, and evaluate three full-time staff members. Oversee the university's academic internship documentation process and supervise the Internship Coordinator II, who manages the daily process. Provides leadership in the form of support, mentoring, and training to the staff in partnership with the director and the other assistant director. Assist the director with administrative duties such as strategic planning, assessment, budget, the First Destination Survey, and representing the department as needed.
Liaison - 15%
Communicate regularly with the Colleges and Alumni relations to facilitate internship and employer networking opportunities and details regarding internship documentation. Assist the director with communication with academic departments as it pertains to the First Destination Survey and other career programming.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or other relevant field.
Required Experience
At least two years of work experience in career services and employer relations.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Business or related field; AND at least five years of full-time work experience. At least two years of work experience in career services and employer relations on a college campus. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Preferred Experience
At least three to five years of work experience in career services and employer relations on a college campus and supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Ability to use technology for tracking and monitoring student progress for internships and in-house career development plans. Capable of multi-tasking and setting priorities within a team environment, and able to identify, select, and implement career coaching/advising/counseling interventions and techniques appropriate to student goals.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of career planning and labor/employment trends as well as placement activities. Knowledge of career development theories and techniques and their application in advising process.
SKILLS
Competent in career and/or academic advising methods at the collegiate level. Strong leadership, data collection and analysis, budgeting, management, counseling/advising, interpersonal and relationship building, organizational and time management, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
