Position description
A postdoctoral position is available at UC Berkeley's Innovative Genomics Institute (IGI). This position will be supervised by Brian Staskawicz. The postdoctoral researcher will serve on an interdisciplinary team of social scientists, ecologists, biogeochemists, and modelers in a research collaboration between UC Berkeley's Innovative Genomics Institute founded by Jennifer Doudna, who won the Nobel Prize for CRISPR gene editing, and the Soil Carbon Solution Center at Colorado State University. The postdoctoral researcher will conduct a regional perception analysis of agricultural land managers' attitudes towards novel methods of soil carbon sequestration.
The project involves using mixed social science methods including surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus groups. The candidate will facilitate focus groups and interviews, transcribe interviews, analyze data, and summarize key findings to IGI staff. The candidate will conduct field research as well as develop and implement participatory social science research. This position is eligible for remote work within the USA; training and mentoring will be done virtually if the majority of the position is worked remotely. This position will require frequent travel, approximately once per quarter, to the US Midwest and South to conduct fieldwork.
The Innovative Genomics Institute and its partners at Colorado State University are committed to our efforts in diversity, equity, and inclusion by ensuring programs, measures, and
systems of accountability are in place to create environments where all individuals can prosper.
