Job Description
Metro State University, a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, is seeking to hire one Assistant/ Associate Professor of Accounting. This is a full-time probationary position within the Department of Accounting and will start on January 2025.

Responsibilities
Faculty members are expected to:
- Demonstrate the ability to teach Accounting Information Systems or Business Taxation and financial accounting courses effectively to a diverse, contemporary student population and contribute to meaningful assessment of student learning.
- Engage in scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research.
- Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study.
- Contribute to student growth and development through advising and assistance.
- Engage in service to the university and community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to serving a diverse student body by delivering a student-centered education and using approaches that support equitable outcomes for all students.
- A completed terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution in accounting or a broadly related field, or a Juris Doctorate (JD), or a masters in taxation. ABDs with expected completion by January 2026 will also be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and design curriculum at the undergraduate level courses in accounting information systems or business taxation and financial accounting effectively to a diverse, contemporary student population and contribute to meaningful assessment of student learning. Courses to include but not limited to Accounting Information Systems or Business Taxation, and financial accounting.
- Demonstrated potential for success in teaching and professional service activities.
- A plan for scholarly activity, creative achievement, and/or research in the specified discipline(s), or related disciplines.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to communicate with a variety of persons and groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an institution with a culturally, economically, and linguistically diverse workforce and student population.
- Demonstrated ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Candidate must live or be willing to relocate to Minnesota and teach face-to-face courses.
- Professional experience working in the accounting profession. Preference for experience with accounting information systems or business taxation and financial accounting.
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or professional experience with data analytics is desired.
- A professional certificate in Accountancy such as CPA, EA, CMA, or CIA.
- Demonstrated effective teaching at a post-secondary level.
- Experience developing course curricula at a post-secondary institution.
- Demonstrated contributions to assessment of student learning at a post-secondary institution.
- Professional development and/or expertise in culturally responsive pedagogy, anti-racist pedagogy, and/or universal design.
- Experience as an academic advisor for students at post-secondary institution.
- Service and interaction with the professional community.
- Ability to conduct high-quality research in their area of study.
