Summary of Job Duties:The School of Nursing (SON) clinical instructor works under the direction of the course coordinator, who assigns responsibilities according to student needs and course objectives. The clinical instructor may assist in more than one course. This is an hourly part-time faculty position. Hours per week required are based on the clinical need for the semester and may vary from 10 to 30 hours per week. This position reports directly to the SON Dean.

Responsibilities include:
1.tParticipate in assignments as designated by the course coordinator.
2.tSelect or assist students to select appropriate clients for student clinical experiences using designated form for posting of assignments.
3.tAttend and participate in SON meetings as scheduled by the course coordinator and Dean to assure consistency of course content with clinical experiences and program advancement.
4.tAdhere to course objectives in developing appropriate clinical experiences.
5.tParticipate in the student clinical evaluation process.
6.tUtilize appropriate instructional resources to facilitate student progress toward meeting student-learning objectives.
7.tReview the curriculum and specific course content to facilitate student progress toward meeting objectives.
8.tConduct pre- and post-clinical conferences to facilitate student learning and the critical thinking process.
9.tPromote the goals and objectives of the SON.
10.tMaintain expertise in clinical practice.
11.tServe as a professional role model to students.
12.tReturn clinical written work in a timely manner as specified by the course coordinator.
13.tCommunicate effectively with the course coordinator relevant to needs, problems, or necessary changes in required clinical instruction of students.
14.tAttend and participate in SON Curriculum, Faculty Association, and the Professional Standards and Review Committee meetings when called to do so by the SON dean.
15.tPromote cohesiveness between faculty and students within the SON.
16.tAdhere to clinical agency memorandum of agreement requirements while preparing to or while instructing student in the clinical area.
17.tAssist the Nursing Skills course coordinator with student lab/practice/check-off.
18.tComplete other teaching assignments as made by the SON Dean

Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree required; Masters or Doctoral degree preferred; Current unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in Arkansas or compact agreement state. A background check and drug screen are required.
