Job Summary
The Elmhurst Learning and Success Academy ( ELSA ) is a four-year, post-secondary certificate program for young adults, ages 18-28, with differing abilities. We are seeking an individual to teach an ELSA course:
ELS 021 Career Exploration (Spring Semester – Monday/Wednesday 10:30-11:35)
To be a successful ELSA Adjunct, candidates should be invested in collaboration, want to work in higher education, and be open to working with students with varying abilities.
Essential Functions
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Work Hours
Class offerings are primarily during the day (8:00 am – 4:00 pm). See Job Summary for specific information for the upcoming academic year.

ELS 021 Career Exploration (Spring Semester – Monday/Wednesday 10:30-11:35)
- This course introduces students to various skills necessary for learning about career paths, fundamental career/academic decisions, and vocational interests and aptitudes.
- Students will gain knowledge and experience through participation in in-class activities, discussion, research, and occupational laboratory experiences in the community. Topics of discussion will focus on career paths, employment, and the world of work.
To be a successful ELSA Adjunct, candidates should be invested in collaboration, want to work in higher education, and be open to working with students with varying abilities.
Essential Functions
- Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction.
- Collaborates with Director and other adjunct faculty to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum as needed for mastery of course content.
- Provides students with assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
- Documents student progress and maintains accurate records such as attendance, grading, and achievement of student learning outcomes.
- Demonstrates flexibility in working and problem solving with staff regarding student/class needs.
- Maintains office hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Special Education, Higher Education, Counseling or related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to collaborate and build rapport with students.
