Job Description
Nevada State University invites applications for the position of TRIO Upward Bound Student Development Coordinator. The Coordinator reports to the TRIO Upward Bound Associate Director and is responsible for assisting in the program oversight and administration of the TRIO Upward Bound Programs. The Coordinator will assist with the development and execution program policies, procedures, and protocols that advance the TRIO corporate goals and initiatives.
The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing aspects of student recruitment, academic advising, and programming for students from the Clark County School District partner schools. The advising aspects of the program includes but is not limited to academic advising and course selection, study skills, personal concerns, career exploration and preparation, college admissions tests, financial aid information, admissions requirements to colleges and universities, assistance with financial aid application and college admissions process.
Additionally, the Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing the Saturday College programming during the Academic Year and components of the Summer Academy. The Coordinator will develop new programming designed to enhance the academic success of the participants as well as assist in the development and realization of program goals, operating procedures, program initiatives and assessments for the program.
This position is not eligible for temporary remote work and will require Nevada residency and on-site work. This position is grant funded through May 31, 2027. Any continuation in this position will be based on additional grant funding.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Determine student and programmatic needs in order to design and coordinate personalized and group activities and services.
- Ensure compliance with all federal regulations and guidelines and the submission of all required reports in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement procedures for hourly staff and train personnel to accommodate space/student needs.
- Maintain student database software and manage student-tracking initiatives to assist with federal reporting requirements.
- Coordinate student events including travel, community service events, supervise students, and distribute and collect parental consent for liability purposes.
- Supervise mentor-mentee interactions and communications, address needs of mentors and mentees, plan activities for students and mentors, and encourage participation.
- Weekly travel to partner schools to meet with students and partner school personnel on various issues related to student success.
- Recruit students through making presentations, conducting interviews, and coordinating with partner school personnel and staff.
- Advise students on course selection, career readiness, college entry/reentry, and assist with college and scholarship applications, and FASFA completion.
- Supervise students during program activities, including overnight trips.
- Develop and implement an online presence through updates and renovations of the webpage, social media, and emerging media.
- Manage college readiness programming designed to educate and support students' parents/guardians.
- Represent TRIO Upward Bound in meetings, on committees and in workgroups with colleagues and internal and external partners.
- Coordinate the curriculum, activities, and services during the academic year and summer components.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of the responsibilities associated with working with minors.
- Willingness to travel overnight and the ability to stay awake for long periods of time when chaperoning during program activities, college visits, conferences, etc.
- Must be able to successfully pass a CCSD background check.
- At least one (1) year of experience with TRIO programs or other pre-collegiate programs that serve low-income students and families.
- Have overcome similar barriers to target population.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Spanish bi-lingual.
- Master's Degree in Education or related field.
- Valid driver's license to be able to drive to and from program activities, college visits, conferences, etc.
Salary & Benefits
Budgeted salary for this position is $52,197. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 17.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
