    St. Edward's University, a nationally ranked, independent Catholic university and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), invites applications for a full-time, nine-month position as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling beginning August 2024. St. Edward's is characterized by its commitment to the Holy Cross educational mission to educate the hearts and minds of a diverse student body that is deeply committed to social justice.

    The successful candidate will be a core faculty member, supervising and teaching courses in the Masters in Counseling (MAC) program. The MAC program comprises two CACREP-accredited specializations: clinical mental health counseling (CMHC) and marriage, couples, and family counseling (MCFC). Responsibilities include teaching a 4/4 load, supervising students, and providing some service to the department.

    Required Qualifications are:
    • An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in counselor education and supervision from a
    • CACREP-accredited program. ABD candidates will be considered but must complete degree requirements by the appointment date (August 19, 2024).
    • University teaching experience in counseling.
    • Licensed or eligible for LPC and/or LMFT in Texas.
    • Experience supervising master's level counseling students.
    • Ability to teach courses across the CACREP curriculum.
    • Demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity in academia and social justice, supporting the university's global initiative and strategic priorities.
    • Show evidence of sustained professional engagement


    Preferred Qualifications are:
    • An earned doctoral degree in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program.
    • Licensed as an LPC and/or LMFT in Texas.
    • Postdoctoral experience teaching in a CACREP-accredited program.
    • Experience with technology and software platforms for facilitating digital clinical records and field management (i.e., Tevera, TherapyNotes, VALT).
    • Bilingual (Spanish-English).
    • Experience working in a specialized area of clinical mental health counseling and/or marriage, couples, and family counseling

    Essential Responsibilities Include:
    • Teach courses (4/4) in the MAC program
    • Supervision at the on-campus training clinic
    • Engage in professional development
    • Mentor graduate students
    • Maintain strong professional counseling identity
    • Other duties as assigned
