The physical sciences department at Dominican University seeks applicants for the position of full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of chemistry for the 2024-2025 academic year.  We are seeking someone enthusiastic about gaining or expanding their skills teaching introductory chemistry courses, both lecture and laboratory sections, and who has a commitment to serving a diverse student body. This is a great opportunity for a candidate interested in mentorship and development as a teacher of record in a primarily undergraduate context.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The course load is 24 credits across two semesters. The courses that will be prioritize are CHEM101 Introduction to General Chemistry both lecture and laboratory and CHEM104 Introduction to Organic Chemistry both lecture and laboratory. Other teaching-related responsibilities such as mentoring laboratory assistants and other student workers may be included.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must have a Master’s Degree or a PhD in a Chemistry discipline.

Provide evidence of teaching experience at the college level with diverse undergraduate students.

Availability to teach in-person.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Provide evidence of teaching excellence in culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogy designed to reach a diverse student body.

Experience teaching introductory chemistry courses (lecture and laboratory sections).
