Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Athletics is searching for an hourly, Part-Time Fitness Instructor in its recreational and fitness program This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing essential support by leading patrons in a group environment through a class format of fitness instruction designed to enhance overall fitness, strength & endurance, while ensuring safety for all participants. Seeking instructors qualified to instruct the following classes: yoga, strength, indoor cycling, pilates and Zumba.
Core responsibilities will include:
- Instruct and lead participants in maintaining appropriate
exercise techniques pertaining to fitness while evaluating ability
of participants. Ensure safe environment. Demonstrates proper
technique & form
- Maintain order and cleanliness of exercise space before,
during, and after class. Ensure equipment functionality
- Maintain class roster and communicate effectively using our DSE
software systems
- Other duties as assigned
- A passion for health and fitness
- The ability to have a flexible schedule, and be punctual and
dependable
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree
preferred
- 0-1 year of teaching/instruction experience required; 1-3 years
of teaching experience preferred
- Accredited nationally recognized certification in the field of
instruction required
- CPR/First AID/AED certification required
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which
comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
- Successful Background Check
- Child Protection Clearances
