Join the Institutional Engagement and Effectiveness (IEE) team at Utah Valley University (UVU) as the Associate Director of Data Collection and Research. In this pivotal role within our leadership team, you will oversee analysts in data collection and assessment efforts while serving as a senior research analyst. Your responsibilities will encompass a blend of leadership and specialist roles, supporting the Chief officer of Engagement and Effectiveness across operations, project management, quality control, strategic planning, communication, and stakeholder collaboration. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of guidelines for project management, client outreach, and customer service, playing a crucial role in project flow monitoring within IEE. Summary of Responsibilities


  • Staff Supervision and Development: Supervise, manage, and develop analysts to successfully achieve results. Mitigate and resolve conflict within the department. Support the development of analysts' professional and technical skills. Conduct regular performance evaluations and set objectives and goals.
  • Strategic Initiatives and Planning Assist in the advancement of department initiatives including but not limited to: strategic planning, promoting institution-wide awareness of the department's offerings, developing data literacy, training, etc. Contribute to the development of policies and best practices related to institutional effectiveness and evaluation.
  • Research and Data Coordination Coordinate and consult on research, data, and information needs at the broad university level to the individual program level. Model, help develop, and implement guidelines for project management, client outreach, and customer service; monitor the flow of projects for Data Collection and Research. Oversee client satisfaction, address client concerns, and assist in the coordination of communication with clients and constituents. Develop positive working relationships with strategic decision-makers campus-wide. Oversee the quality of relevant IEE offerings and promote data literacy campus-wide.
  • Project Management and Analysis Conduct projects as a senior research analyst; data collection, analysis, communication, project management, prioritization, and collecting client feedback.
  • Provide management support to the Chief Officer of Engagement and Effectiveness as requested and serve as an IEE representative on university committees and task forces. (Campus Engagement Committee, Campus Climate Committee, UPAC, etc.)
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Master's degree in Business or Public Administration, Education, Social Science, or a related field plus one year of directly-related professional experience; OR graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree in the above areas or a related field plus three years of directly related professional experience.

Experience managing a team of professionals

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of best practices for people management.
  • Awareness of higher education environment and issues; working knowledge of data, qualitative and quantitative research methodology and analysis.

Skills
  • Experience working with customers/clients in a professional-service environment.
  • Experience managing people and projects, problem-solving, and handling conflict.
  • Solid sense of data with an ability to simplify complex concepts for decision-makers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effectively and simply conveying complex information and presenting information to individuals and/or groups to inform, educate, and persuade.
  • Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills; excellent organizational and project management skills; skill in computers and computer applications, including project management, team management, and communication tools.
Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and lead a team of professionals by providing a vision and actionable strategies that allow individuals to optimally perform individual responsibilities, professionally develop, and achieve team goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize statistics, analytical, and reporting tools such as SPSS, Excel, Tableau, Qualtrics, Power BI, or other related programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and influence leaders and effectively contribute subject matter expertise that facilitates informed decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and accomplish goals and achieve timely and high-quality results.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult and advise clients in defining and developing projects; demonstrated ability to think critically and to manage and respond to complex issues and multiple priorities.
