Job Details
The College of East Asian Studies at Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Modern Korean Studies beginning July 1, 2025. The fields of expertise for this position are open and include (but are not limited to) literature, education, anthropology, sociology, history, film, gender and sexuality studies, communication, music, or geography, with preference given to those working with media and popular culture. We are particularly interested in scholars who can address issues of race and transnational currents.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach four courses a year, including advanced language classes. Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment and capacity to teaching college-level Korean studies courses (including Korean language).
A Ph.D. must be in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as an Assistant Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as an Instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment, but will complete the Ph.D. within one year of hire.
A complete application includes a cover letter (including statement of research and teaching interests), curriculum vitae, transcripts, a writing sample, syllabi, and evidence of teaching effectiveness. You will also be asked to provide the email addresses of three referees from whom we will obtain confidential letters of recommendation.
