Job Description:

The part-time technology support position allows for a maximum of 29 weekly hours. This position participates in various supportive functions for all College-owned computers, laptops, peripherals, and software for student, faculty, and staff end-users in computing spaces, classrooms, and libraries. It supports onboarding workers for network and telecommunications. Reports to Coordinator, Technology Support.

NOTE: This is an open applicant pool. Positions are filled by the department on an as-needed basis. Unless specifically stated, part-time positions are not eligible for the College's benefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists with the technical support of all College-owned technology for students, faculty, and staff end-users.
  • Works with Technology Support staff to accomplish completion of projects and tasks with developed timelines.
  • Assists with maintaining accurate documentation and tracking of support and service for all student, faculty, and staff end-users, computer equipment, software, and peripherals.
  • Assists with follow-up support for end-users, as necessary.
  • Assists with documentation for training and instruction for all student, faculty, and staff end- users.
  • Assists with the security, cleanliness, and orderly condition of computer spaces and all working spaces, equipment, and facilities. Reports any recommendations to the Technology staff.
  • Assists with an accurate inventory of supplies and systems as requested by Technology staff.
  • Processes telecommunication transactions for new workers, change requests for existing workers, and provides training as needed.
  • Assists various basic network & telecommunications activities, including, but not limited to, cabling, telecommunication system configuration, network configuration, and end-user support.
  • Responsible for knowing and conforming to all safety practices and regulations that apply to this specific area and position. Unsafe conditions should be reported to the immediate supervisor and to the Pensacola State College Police Department/Public Safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to be detail-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Problem-solving skills, including researching for technical inquiries and providing solutions. Must demonstrate a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively and respectfully with team members as well as independently.
  • May be required to travel in-district.
Minimum Qualifications: High school coursework or documented course completion related to computer-oriented support/training. Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems, Office applications, and Outlook email are required. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

Hourly Rate: $13.00
