The Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department at Wesleyan University seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor or a tenured associate or full professor (open rank) beginning July 1, 2025, with substantive research and teaching interests in the area(s) of Transnational Feminist and Queer Studies of the Global South and/or Black Feminism / Black Queer Diaspora Studies. Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies is an interdisciplinary department offering an undergraduate major in the study of gender and sexuality as categories of analysis and experience that intersect with race, class, ethnicity, citizenship, and other categories of difference. The Assistant, Associate, or full Professor will contribute to the core courses for the FGSS major, as well as other courses in their area of specialization, and will carry a 2/2 teaching load. Additional duties include advising and mentoring students, carrying on a program of research, and participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university level. Ph.D. or advanced graduate course work in women’s and gender studies or other relevant academic discipline in the humanities or humanistic-oriented social sciences required; if ABD, a successful candidate must show evidence that they will have a Ph.D. in hand by the time of appointment.
