THE DEPARTMENT: The School of Engineering at CSUEB offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering and Construction Management. Graduate degrees are also offered in Engineering Management and Construction Management. This position is for a tenure track position for assistant professor in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management starting in Fall of 2025. The School of Engineering is within the College of Science. It enjoys widespread support among local industry, including an Advisory Board with representation from major local firms. DUTIES OF THE POSITION: We are seeking an individual with teaching ability at graduate and undergraduate levels in selected aspects of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management. Primary teaching responsibilities will include areas of operation research, information systems, computer integrated manufacturing, simulation, human factors and ergonomics. Additionally, demonstrated expertise or interest in the interdisciplinary research areas Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management domains with published work are an asset. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or related field by August 2025 and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering is preferred. The successful candidate will reveal the ability to conduct independent research, engage undergraduate and graduate students in applied research, publish papers and attract funding in areas related to Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management. In addition to teaching and research this faculty will be responsible for advising students, curriculum development, engaging in program accreditation, program outreach, interaction with industry and other activities required for advancing the mission of the School of Engineering. Ability to teach, advise and mentor students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds is required. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or Online campus. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that tenure-track faculty members will perform their duties within the state of California. In addition to teaching, all faculty have advising responsibilities, assist the department with administrative and/or committee work, and are expected to assume campus-wide committee responsibilities.

RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Subject to budgetary authorization. Anticipated salary: $89,800 to $93,000. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

The candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or closely related areas by August 2025 and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering is preferred.

Demonstrated ability to:

1) teach at graduate and undergraduate levels in selected aspects of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management

2) conduct independent research

3) advise students, develop curriculum, recruit students to the program, and interact with industry

4) effectively teach, mentor, advise, and work with students from culturally diverse backgrounds

5) work collegially with a culturally diverse body of faculty

The candidate must demonstrate a potential for teaching excellence in the designated areas, possess the interest and ability to advise and mentor a culturally diverse student body and help in curricular development. Candidates should demonstrate experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or community service that has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.
