Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute is searching for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate is to carry out advanced independent and/or directed research to achieve the objectives of the research project. This position will require an in depth knowledge of a specialized field, process, or discipline and may involve organizing and implementing complex research plans, the development of methods of research, testing and data collection, analysis and evaluation, and writing reports which contain descriptive, analytical and evaluative content. The purpose of this role is to acquire the professional skills needed to pursue a career path of his or her choosing.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in grant writing to secure funding for ongoing and
future research projects.
- Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature
search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze
the collected data.
- Conduct research experiments within the predetermined research
scope and methodology of department and university.
- Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering
of supplies may be required depending on area and specialty.
- Lead research project on multimodal foundation models and
neural rendering. Participating/assisting in manuscript writing for
publication in first-tier computer vision and machine learning
conferences.
- Maintain lab equipment and mentor graduate students. Collect
and analyze data, including performing literature reviews and
utilizing specialized skills to interpret findings.
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in
scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant
writing.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Doctorate Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering,
or a related field.
- Strong background in computer vision and deep learning.
- Proven record of first-author publications in top-tier
conferences (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS).
- Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a
research team.
- Good working knowledge of foundation models.
- Understanding of neural rendering techniques (NeRF, Gaussian
splatting.
- Strong coding and analytical skills required.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and reasoning, and
organization and planning skills required Nice-to-have Skillsets

- 3D computer vision.
- Experience with AR/VR/XR environments and headsets.
- Strong analytical skills.
