Hampton University School of Pharmacy invite applications for Assistant or Associate Professor in Medicinal Chemistry Sciences faculty position in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy.
In 2023, Hampton University School of Pharmacy established a new Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program that achieved approval of Pre-Candidate Status from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in January 2024. The School of Pharmacy will matriculate its first cohort of students seeking the new PharmD degree in Fall 2024. The school currently offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, along with minors in Pharmaceutical Science, Environmental Health Science, and Public Health.

Job Description
The School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry. The successful applicant should have a background in Medicinal Chemistry, Drug Delivery or in one or more related fields of chemistry (Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Natural Products Chemistry). The successful candidate is expected to serve on college/ university/ professional committees in compliance with the duties and responsibilities associated with being a Hampton University faculty member.
Teaching responsibilities will include providing academic instruction in the topics of pharmaceutical calculations, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry or drug delivery to undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy students. Possible assignments include, but are not limited to, coordination and lecturing in Pharmacology, Drug Design, Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacotherapy or Pharmaceutics courses within the Doctor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Science Pharmaceutical Sciences curricula.

- PhD in Pharmaceutics, Medicinal or Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related disciplines
- Post-graduate experience (post-doctoral training, advanced training or industry experience) in one of the above-mentioned areas of chemistry, drug design, drug delivery or pharmaceutics.
- Willingness to work in a diverse academic environment as well as teach and mentor students from diverse backgrounds
- Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
- English proficiency, good communication and well-developed interpersonal skills
- Three years of teaching experience at the undergraduate, graduate and/or Doctor of Pharmacy level
- Evidence of scholarly activity and/or extramural supported independent research in drug design, drug delivery, biochemistry, analytical, organic or computational chemistry
- Research interests in Cancer, Neuroscience, Infectious Diseases, Cardio-pulmonary, Endocrine or Environmental Health-related Disorders
