Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice, Studio Faculty

The faculty of the Architecture Program invites applicants to be a part of a design school within a land-grant institution where faculty merge teaching, research, creative activity, and service to the university and community. We seek highly motivated candidates versed in the discipline of architecture with evidence of accomplishment in professional or speculative practice. This is a full-time appointment of which at least 80% is dedicated to teaching. The successful candidate is expected to teach required undergraduate design studios and the option of a core class or advanced seminar in a specific area of expertise. The faculty is looking for candidates with substantial professional practice in architecture that can be translated and communicated to students in undergraduate design studios.


The Architecture Program pursues a design research curriculum in which faculty interests, evolving pedagogies, and engagement combine in a creative environment that balances experimentation and innovation with professional and environmental responsibility. Uniting degree programs in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Community & Regional Planning, and various minors, including Product Design, the College of Architecture promotes cross-disciplinary collaboration while maintaining a commitment to professional education, student performance, and service to the future of its constituent professions. The Architecture Program consists of a pre-professional Bachelor of Science in Design, followed by a 2-year M.Arch degree, as well as a 3-year M.Arch track.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Professional degree in architecture. Current professional licensure (U.S.) in architecture.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to teach architectural design studios, indicated by student work in the teaching portion of the portfolio.
  • Recognized record of accomplishment in professional practice, creative activity, scholarship, and/or grant-funded research in the applicant’s focus area, indicated in the CV and portfolio of work.
  • Terminal professional degree in architecture (e.g. M. Arch, D.Arch, or equivalent) or advanced graduate degree.
