The University of Maryland School of Social Work has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director of School Admissions to join their team. The Associate Director of Admissions manages admissions operations and directs administrative efforts to meet the recruitment goals of the School of Social Work’s strategic plan. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Admissions and Enrollment. This position requires flexibility with work hours due to evening/weekend/travel recruitment responsibilities.

Essential Functions:
- Serves as a key member of a strategic enrollment management team which, in consultation with the Dean, evaluates enrollment trends, sets enrollment goals, and develops recruitment and retention strategies.
- Collaborates with administration and faculty to develop a marketing and geographical recruitment strategy to generate a diverse applicant pool and enroll a diverse and academically strong student body. This strategy includes working with the communications team on advertising, web development and social media, as well as implementing information sessions and attending graduate fairs.
- Relationship building with institutional partners whose undergraduates or workforce are suited for the program being recruited for.
- Supervises the admissions staff, and manages work study students and alumni volunteers, including training and performance evaluation to ensure best practices.
- Executes the final admission decisions on evaluated applicant files and identifies potential scholarship awardees for the School’s scholarship committee.
- Interacts with prospective students by phone, email and in-person.
- Supports and enhances a sense of belonging and success of students from traditionally marginalized populations.
- Creates a cohesive work team that works collaboratively to achieve program’s goals. Oversees the recruitment, performance, and training of team members and continually reviews strengths and weaknesses of staff to maintain a well-trained, highly involved, and motivated team.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years spent progressively building a background in admissions/registration activities. Experience in working with students in an academic setting.
Supervisory Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience directly supervising staff.
Other: Clery act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of admissions requirements and is able to fulfill the position in compliance with all requirements/regulations/laws. Knowledge of student information management systems and databases as they relate to the admissions process.
- Effective communicator in both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to gather and compile complex data and modify reports for multiple audiences.
- Employs anti-racist practices and principles to accomplish work.
- Ability to work cooperatively with diverse populations and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others.
- Ability to establish goals, structures, and processes necessary to implement a mission and strategic vision.

The Hiring Range for this position is in the $80,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
