Summary of Job Duties:The Skilled Tradesman-HVAC is responsible for performing skilled mechanical/electrical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installations and alteration of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and related equipment and facilities, performs preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment, and all work activities in the area of HVAC (Heating, Ventilations, and Air Conditioning) which also includes HVAC building controls, Campus Air Compressors, Boilers and Hot Water Vessels and related equipment. The Skilled Tradesman-HVAC also serves as the Energy Manager for UACCM. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Formal education or training equivalent of a high school diploma

  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience with residential and commercial units, performing service, repairs, replacements, and controls

  • Has practical working experience and knowledge of Variable Refrigerant flow units, Building Control Systems, Smart Systems, Variable Frequency Drives, Single and Three Phase Electrical Systems, Boiler/hot water reheat systems.

  • Possesses EPA universal certification and Class 'A' HVAC License

  • Possesses valid driver's license



PREFERRED QUAILIFICATIONS:

  • Evidenced training and experience in Energy management

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of methods, practices, and safety precautions in HVAC, Boilers/Hot Water Vessels/Air Compressors.
  • Knowledge of the accepted practices, processes, materials, and tools of the HVAC trade.
  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to HVAC trades.
  • Able to provide mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates for the HVAC trades, upgrades and replacements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, schematics, building plans, and/or work drawing.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions, warnings, etc.
  • Ability to maintain inventory on needed parts and tools of the HVAC trades.
  • Able to climb ladders, lift up to 50lbs, push, pull, reach, crawl, and move about freely from building to building
