Job Description
- Perform manual work involving the sorting, delivering and collection of U.S. mail, campus mail and accountable mail to and from designated buildings and offices of the St. Louis campus at the University of Missouri in accordance with prescribed routes. Work is reviewed through evaluation of general effectiveness as reflected by complaints, speed and accuracy of sorting, route flexibility and attendance record.
- Accurately sort incoming mail and distribute to various departments.
- Collect and prepare outgoing mail and examine returned mail pieces.
- May deliver and obtain signed receipt for accountable mail (certified, registered, insured, Express and returned UPS parcels.) § Operate Pitney Bowes postage machine. § Operate mail vehicles and perform general preventive maintenance (e.g. fill fuel tanks, etc. as required). § Perform other duties as assigned.
- Under direct supervision of designated supervisor, receives oral instructions as needed or where any deviation from routing procedure occurs. Functional supervision is occasionally received from a higher-level mail carrier.

8:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.
Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
- At least 18 years of age.
- A valid Missouri driver’s license.
- Good physical health to withstand walking occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry a maximum of 70 pounds.
- Above average hand-to-eye coordination.
- Ability to deal with people in a courteous manner.
Mail facility work experience.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $12.79 - $16.83 Hourly
Grade: GGS-C
