We are currently seeking to fill our Assistant Director of Security position at the Georgia campus with a highly qualified and passionate individual.

Location: Suwanee, GA
POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Campus Safety and Security is responsible for helping to carry out the effective administration of general campus safety along with parking enforcement programs. The Assistant Director provides leadership and helps to develop strategic planning and administrative direction for the department. The Assistant Director helps the Director coordinate and direct the daily operation of the campus security office and its officers with the contract security company. Additionally, this person will work to develop and support all campus programs relating to the welfare and safety of students, faculty and staff, the protection of university property, and the prevention of crime and accidents on campus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists in organizing, directing, and evaluating departmental activities.
• Helps to develop departmental guidelines, which support the achievement of the department’s mission.
• Helps in planning activities relating to all aspects of public safety and crime prevention in a university environment.
• Helps to assure proper maintenance of the security vehicle; i.e. golf cart.
• Reviews and assesses incident reports and documentation of physical security checks.
• Monitors work schedules and may suggest schedule adjustments to the Account Manager for the contract security company while setting work standards.
• Relays information regarding reports of contract security officer infractions of rules and regulations.
• Assists in maintaining relevant university records.
• Helps gather and provide crime statistics as required by state and federal regulations.
• Maintains communication with local and state law enforcement agencies, the local fire department, and other agencies concerned with campus safety and accident prevention.
• Assists in organizing, planning, and coordinating the university’s safety programs.
• Prepares special reports and undertakes special assignments as directed by the Director of Safety and Security.
• Maintains current knowledge of laws, police procedures, and security techniques and helps modify programs as needed.
• May assist in developing, reviewing, and updating the departmental operations manual, emergency procedures security guidelines and other policy and operating statements.
• Assists in control of group disturbances and crowd control.
• Inform the Director of Campus Safety and Security on major incidents.
• Helps to coordinate training with the contract security company.
• Performs related duties as assigned as well as basic security officer duties and responsibilities.
• May assist in overseeing the vehicle registration process and the issuing of parking permits.
Additional Duties:
• Reviews and approves payroll for contract security team for accuracy as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
• Associates degree or higher. However, a combination of education and experience will be considered
• A Georgia Peace Office Certification is highly desirable
Experience
• 10 years of progressive experience in security or law enforcement required
• Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in the public safety field, preferably in a college setting
• Knowledge of Georgia criminal law is a strong plus
• Law enforcement certification and experience preferred
• Experience in a college or institution setting preferred
• Must possess strong customer service orientation and be committed to the education and development of college students.
• Position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and the expertise to deal with sensitive and confidential issues.
• Knowledge of safety/fire/health/and risk management issues in the institution environment preferred.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting Institutions of Higher Education.
• Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Details
• Valid Driver’s License required
• This position will work 40 hours per week, but the hours may vary based on departmental needs. This person must also be able to be on–call after normal business hours.
• Additionally, the person will have to provide night, weekend, or holiday coverage as needed.

Salary: $65,000 - $72,000
The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
