Job Description


The Coordinator III for Honors and International Education (HIE) develops and communicates the division¿s vision, mission, and goals. Provides administrative management for current and future projects and proposals. Through collaboration with the HIE Director, the HIE division and related stakeholders, is responsible for the implementation and assessment of programs and campus activities and makes recommendations related to student development and retention.


1. With HIE Director, oversees functions of the campus HIE programs, specifically Global Scholars and Honors programming, as well as international education initiatives and the International Studies Area of Concentration

2. Responsible for maintaining HIE campus center, including making relevant facilities requests, supply orders, and student engagement tracking

3. Supports budget processes, including data entry and expense reports. May make budget recommendations

4. Plans, coordinates, and hosts campus HIE events for faculty, staff, and students to promote academic persistence, retention, and graduation

5. Serves as first point-of-contact for students, mentors, administrators and LSC campus community regarding HIE programming and services

6. As assigned, coordinates, and supports faculty and staff training sessions regarding successful undergraduate research and/or international education best practices

7. Coordinates and implements program outreach

8. Recruits faculty, staff, and students to join and participate in Global Scholars, Honors, and other HIE programs, events, and initiatives

9. Regularly assesses and analyzes student needs, interests, and events for developing programs, objectives, and plans for reports and evaluation

10. Meets with students to track progress and success within Global Scholars, Honors, and/or International Studies Area of Concentration; with HIE director, may serve as program advisor to students in HIE programs or tracks

11. May represent HIE at Lone Star College events and conferences

12. Some travel required; may include serving as HIE trip leader

13. Supports system-level HIE activities and events as assigned

14. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • Some travel may be required

· Bachelor's Degree and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education

· Specialization in coordinator position area


Hiring salary range is $48,152-$55,375

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
