Berry College invites applications for the position of Retail Manager. Berry is a selective comprehensive liberal arts college located on a stunning 27,000-acre campus just north of Rome, Ga., midway between Atlanta, Ga., and Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Retail Manager is responsible for managing the operations of multiple college retail units: The Shipyard, Oak Hill Gift Shop, Sunshine Room Textiles, Viking Furniture, and Lavender Mountain Dreams. The Retail Manager will be responsible for working with the student teams to reach revenue goals and create best practices. As Retail Manager, you will mentor, model, and teach skills appropriate to manage the college's small businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage The Shipyard, the college store, including but not limited to:
- Coordinate the college's online textbook ordering program, which includes working with faculty to order textbooks, promote the service to students, and distribute textbooks upon arrival.
- Design, order, and catalog all store merchandise, including apparel, gifts, and accessories.
- Facilitate the ordering of commencement materials.
- Partner with the Farm Manager to sell farm-related products and host on-campus markets (fall and spring).
- Partner with student and alumni entrepreneurs to provide a venue for retail products.
- Responsible for Berry enterprises that create products for the retail outlets including Sunshine Room Textiles, Viking Furniture, and Lavender Mountain Dreams.
- Partner with campus departments for product development and opportunities to enhance the Berry brand.
- Hire, mentor, supervise model, and teach business planning, retail management, sales skills, and supervision to student managers and teams.
- Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of various cultures and backgrounds.
- Assist with department or other campus initiatives as needed.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree is required and retail or sales experience is strongly preferred. Candidates must have excellent customer service, time management, and communication skills. This position requires a team-oriented, self-motivated individual who is comfortable taking on many tasks and juggling multiple projects simultaneously. On occasion, availability to work nights and weekends is required.
