Job Summary

The Auburn University Soil, Forage, and Water Testing Laboratory is currently seeking applicants for a Coordinator, Agriculture Support position. The individual selected for this position will provide a variety of high-level administrative business and office support for the laboratory.

The Soil, Forage and Water Testing Lab at Auburn University serves the farming communities of Alabama through testing and analysis of a variety of agricultural materials, including soil, water, plant tissue, poultry litter, forages and feeds. This research testing laboratory also serves the citizens of Alabama by providing routine testing, commercial testing, and analysis of soil and tissue samples from lawns and gardens, as well as water from households, wells and other water resources.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Coordinates a variety of general administrative and office support tasks including, but not limited to, project coordination, support tasks for supervisor, data, file, and document management, preparing for various meetings, events, etc.
  • Serves as the office liaison to a variety of faculty, staff, students, and external partners. May act on behalf of the supervisor in various situations.
  • Advises others on processes and policy for areas such as budget tracking, human resources administration, data, systems, projects or events, and acts as liaison to other departments and vendor/outside agencies; coordinates the execution of departmental needs in collaboration with appropriate staff and departments.
  • Processes and prepares work orders, approves expenditures, issues payments to vendors and suppliers, and organizes corresponding documents.
  • Coordinates the flow of information, documents, tasks, data, and more between the department to ensure tasks and deadlines are achieved. Recommends improvements to supervisor for administrative and financial processes.
  • Oversees the maintenance, repair, and replacement of office equipment and furniture; manages inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of experience in administrative support services OR a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in administrative support services.

  • Knowledge of office procedures and practices.
  • Experience with administrative and financial functions and running an office.
  • Knowledge of data entry and billing.
