Position Summary The Wingate University School of
Pharmacy seeks a candidate with strong interest and ability in
graduate level clinical and didactic teaching for a full-time,
non-tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor appointment with a
focus in inpatient pharmacy practice. Clinical responsibilities
will include developing and providing direct patient care services
in an institutional setting in the Hendersonville, NC area as well
as providing educational in-services as needed to providers/staff
at the site. Teaching responsibilities include precepting third-
and fourth-year student pharmacists at the practice site as well as
classroom and laboratory teaching a variety of clinical topics.
Additional responsibilities include scholarship, academic service,
professional/community service, and other duties as assigned.
Candidates must possess a doctor of pharmacy degree and have
completed a PGY1 residency. PGY2 residency preferred. Didactic and
experiential teaching experience is highly desirable. Candidates
must be eligible for pharmacist licensure in North Carolina and
obtain a pharmacist license in North Carolina within 3 months of
hire. Academic rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications,
previous teaching/precepting involvement, and research and
scholarship accomplishments. Duties/Responsibilities
- Teach/co-teach doctoral courses in alignment with Wingate University School of Pharmacy policies and ACPE Standards
- Provide direct patient care services in a hospital setting
- Precept third- and fourth-year student pharmacists
- Participate in the development and/or revision of the School of Pharmacy curriculum
- Advise and mentor a diverse population of students
- Conduct research leading to publication
- Engage in service to the academy, profession, and community
- Maintain regular, predictable attendance on campus
- Maintain consistent, high-quality communication with faculty, staff, and students
- Adhere to general faculty guidelines as specified by Wingate University
- Participate in ongoing recruitment activities as needed
- Perform other job duties/responsibilities may be assigned
- Ability to teach/co-teach doctoral courses in pharmacy
- Ability and willingness to engage in the development and/or refinement of curriculum in line with Wingate University School of Pharmacy standards and ACPE accreditation
- Proficiency in computer technology, including, but not limited to, learning management systems, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to conduct research leading to publications and/or secure external funding
- Ability to maintain consistent, clear communication with faculty, staff, and students
- Ability to engage in service to the School of Pharmacy, Wingate University, the profession of pharmacy, and the community
- Ability to adhere to faculty guidelines as specified by Wingate University and develop a record of teaching, scholarship, and service necessary for promotion
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance on campus
- Ability and willingness to comply and collaboratively work towards the Wingate University mission, vision, and strategic roadmap
- Ability to perform other job duties and responsibilities as needed
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE accredited institution
- Successful completion of Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) training
- Postgraduate Year 2 (PGY2) training preferred
- Didactic and clinical teaching experience is highly desirable
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Verbal and written communication with colleagues, students, and community partners
- Capacity to meet with colleagues, students, and community partners in various settings
- Traveling to meet in-person with colleagues, students, and community partners
