Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Pre-Hawk program is a direct admission program between Cape Fear Community College ( CFCC ) and The University of North Carolina Wilmington ( UNCW ). The program aims to increase the number of highly prepared students who transfer from CFCC to UNCW with an earned AA or AS degree. The Program Manager will serve as an advisor and main point of contact for students interested in or participating in the Pre-Hawk program. The Program Manager will also develop, coordinate, and assess all events for pre-hawk students and support other UNCW transfer student initiatives.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
  • Professional experience in admissions, student services, school counseling, student success, or advising
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, set priorities, achieve goals, and coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Master’s Degree in higher education, counseling, or other related fields.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate events, workshops, and webinars.
  • Ability to represent the department professionally and conscientiously.
  • Ability to maintain high quality/standards of work, leadership, ethics, commitment, professional responsibility, and judgment
  • Experience developing new programs or services in a higher education setting.
  • Ability to develop multifaceted reports for use in various areas; ability to utilize and interpret data.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of diverse groups of students and a commitment to a diverse student body
  • Ability to facilitate and foster positive communication and collaboration.
  • Strong public speaking skills and excellent presentation and communication skills to articulate and present ideas and concepts in writing, social media, and presentation formats.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with various computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, online systems, Internet, and online calendaring and email
  • Working knowledge of or ability to learn University infrastructure, policies, and procedures quickly
  • Ability to exercise and maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with policy and applicable state, federal, and local laws (i.e., FERPA -Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
