DIVISION DIRECTOR, DIVISION OF UNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION

NSF’s Directorate for STEM Education (EDU) seeks a candidate for the Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE). The Directorate provides research-based national leadership in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning and education. Within EDU, DUE leads NSF’s efforts to enhance a comprehensive approach to strengthening STEM undergraduate education at two- and four-year colleges and universities by investing in research, development, and direct support to students, by attracting students to and retaining them in STEM fields, and by enhancing their education and workforce preparation by improving curricula, instruction, laboratories, assessment, and the diversity of students and faculty.
The successful candidate will possess an established record of achievement and leadership in academe, government, or not-for-profit research and education endeavors directed at the enhancement of graduate STEM education. He/she must have experience at the national level and/or at the university level in shaping innovations for the improvement of undergraduate education. In addition to having a strong record of research and education accomplishments, the Division Director must be experienced and competent in technical, financial, and administrative management. He/she must work well with people, be an effective communicator, and act as a mentor to continuously develop the diversity of talents and skills of his or her colleagues at all levels.
Appointment to this Federal Senior Executive Service position may be on a career basis, or on a one to three-year limited-term basis, with a salary range of $193,819 to $216,470. Alternatively, the incumbent may be assigned under the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) provisions.
