Position Summary

Three positions: (Sylvania Campus, Southeast Campus and the Rock Creek Campus has a bilingual English/Spanish requirement).

First Year Experience (FYE) is an exciting pilot launching Fall Term 2024 that provides support and a sense of belonging to students in their first year at PCC. The FYE team is looking for 3 passionate, student-centered professionals to work alongside students at a pivotal point in their education. The FYE College Success Coach provides a broad range of services to students throughout their first year at PCC, including wayfinding support, engagement with the FYE curriculum, and facilitating student connections to campus-based and community resources.

These positions are on-site flex positions with a primary office space at Southeast, Rock Creek or Sylvania campus and work 4 days on campus and 1 day remote. This position reports directly to Josh Laurie, Director of College Success programs within the K12-Community Partnership division. The successful candidate will possess many, though not necessarily all, of the following.
  • Demonstrated experience with strengths-based, outcome driven case management or coaching in a program or department with multiple projects running concurrently. Ability to provide identity-affirming, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed service and support to students.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with internal partners and a wide range of stakeholders to increase student education or career opportunities, and/or resource/ benefit access.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate in a team-oriented environment with an awareness of how cultural background and privilege influence perceptions, values, and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing rapport while supporting students from diverse backgrounds (first generation college status, race, gender, and income), to support student success.
  • Demonstrated experience in inclusive and accessible support initiatives, with experience or transferable skills related to First Year Experience. Ability to establish program outcomes and assessments with a student-centered, culturally responsive approach.
  • Ability to gather and utilize student input and qualitative data to inform continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Science, Counseling, or related field. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis; OR degree and experience requirements established by the Subject Area Committee and approved by the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an educational or social service environment. Demonstrated experience working with at-risk and culturally diverse populations. Experience working with students or clients in advising and developing goals.
  • Experience assessing student needs and coordinating educational and community based services. Experience managing caseload and case files. Fluency in a second language may be required dependent on job assignment. Industry experience may be required depending on assigned program.
Position Grade

Starting Salary Expectations
$56,139 to $60,139 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Position Grade Salary Range
$56139 to $97344 Annual Salary

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
- Starts at 8 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of service)
- 8 hours of sick leave per month
- 24 hours of additional personal leave days per year - 12 Paid holidays

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Evening hours are required. Occasional weekend hours may be required.
