The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks to fill a
tenure-track Assistant Professor position with research focused on energy systems modeling and
simulation. The department is interested in candidates whose research can address fundamental
challenges in energy conversion, storage, and transmission. Applicants with research focused on
computational modeling of chemical, mechanical, and electrochemical energy systems are
encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be interested in collaborative work with existing
centers and faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and throughout campus.
Candidates who transcend the traditional boundaries of Mechanical Engineering to incorporate
insights from Electrical and Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and other related disciplines
in order to address high impact societal problems related to areas described above are especially
encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering, mentoring
graduate students and supervising their research; developing and directing an extramurally funded
research program; participating in departmental and university faculty governance; and contributing
to professional and public service.
Qualifications and Education
Candidates will have a demonstrated record of academic achievement such as peer-reviewed
publications and grant awards appropriate for the early career, exceptional potential in establishing a
world-class research program and a commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate
instruction.
Required: PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, with demonstrated excellence in research
and teaching.
