Description of primary duties and responsibilities:

Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Office of the Provost and Sr. VC for Academic Affairs is the top administrative office for the Division of Academic Affairs. The purpose of the office is to provide oversight to all academic programs, services, and activities, including academic degree programs, non-degree course offerings, and academic support and services. FSU offers 43 undergraduate degrees, 23 master’s degrees, and one doctoral degree through its College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Lloyd College of Health, Science and Technology, Broadwell College of Business & Economics, and College of Education, along with continuing education and pre-college programs and provides many academic support services inclusive of the admissions, registrar and financial aid functions. Hence, the Provost’s Office requires interaction with students, faculty and administrators, staff, and external constituencies such as other university administrators, alumni, legislators, and international dignitaries.

Description of Work Continued:

Primary Purpose of the Position:
This position will be an SHRA administrative staff in the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, providing primary support for the Chief Operations Officer, Director of Honors, and Executive Director of Budget and Administration, and the office’s overall relative to needs required by the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Special emphasis will be on customer service that requires communication, problem-solving, and knowledge of university and division programs and services; work coordination for the supervisor; and office technology applicable to office operations with an emphasis on budgets and accounting support.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Knowledge skills and abilities:
  • Proficient use of office software such as MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Navigate Banner Finance System and 25Live
  • Ability to design Excel spreadsheets and create forms using Excels, extract data from Banner System to develop reports
  • Knowledge of standard policies, practices, and guidelines for office operations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and abilities to make decisions necessary to handle inquiries to make appropriate referrals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through four years of Administrative Support Associate/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
