The Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin in collaboration with the Ascension Texas Cardiovascular is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Vascular Surgeon to join the Division of Vascular Surgery in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care in partnership with Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas and Seton Medical Center Austin. Eligible applicants will be fellowship-trained, and board certified (or board eligible within five years of completion of fellowship) in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery. We seek individuals with excellent clinical skills, a passion for education, and potential for scholarly contributions to join a dynamic department in an innovative, growing medical school.

About the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care
The Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care is comprised of faculty in broad specialties (anesthesiology, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, emergency medicine, general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, otolaryngology, plastic surgery and urology) with a focus on delivering outstanding care to the community.
The Department's priorities are:
- To develop new models of person-centered, multidisciplinary
care that reward value.
- To educate and train future health care leaders.
- To develop research programs to evaluate new care delivery
paradigms.
About Ascension Texas Cardiovascular
Ascension Texas Cardiovascular is a multidisciplinary cardiovascular physician practice of 45 clinicians delivering care across 11 counties in Central Texas. In addition to Dell Seton Medical Center, cardiovascular services are provided at 3 other facilities with endovascular/vascular surgery capabilities within the Ascension Texas system including Seton Medical Center Austin, the region's leader in complex cardiovascular care. The physician group consists of providers from all cardiovascular subspecialties including vascular surgery, cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, structural heart, noninvasive cardiology (echo, nuclear, cardiac CT, MRI), EP, CHF/VAD/transplant, and prevention.
Essential Functions:
- Provision of care to patients with vascular disease as part of
a multi-disciplinary vascular medicine team
- Medical student and resident education
- Participation in clinical, health services, translational
and/or basic science research.
- The successful candidate will be an integral part of a
multidisciplinary team with a passion for quality, innovation and
teamwork that will incorporate opportunities to train and mentor
medical students and residents, as well as develop and foster an
atmosphere of scientific and academic inquiry.
- Actively participate in the academic department by all required
departmental policies.
- Integrate a framework of health and health care into all
aspects of medical education, clinical, research, and community
impact.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Medical degree from an accredited medical school;
- Meets applicable credentialing and privileging standards for
his/her specialty;
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas
(or the ability to obtain prior to appointment);
- Eligible applicants will be fellowship-trained, and board
certified (or board eligible within five years of completion of
fellowship) in vascular surgery by the American Board of
Surgery.
- Eligible for a faculty appointment at the University of Texas
Dell Medical School.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic
environment;
- Outstanding clinical teaching skills;
- Innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence;
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational
skills;
- Eligible for appointment as an Assistant, Associate, or
Professor rank in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care
at Dell Medical School at UT Austin.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing and delivery care through a
multidisciplinary team;
- Familiarity and experience with value-based health care payment
and delivery models;
- Proven track record of academic accomplishment
