College and Area Information:

Eastern Arizona College’s District Offices are located in Thatcher, Arizona, a beautiful rural area with easy access to arid as well as mountainous recreation. The College is located approximately 125 miles northeast of Tucson and 165 miles southeast of Phoenix. EAC is a comprehensive community college offering five associate degrees across nearly 50 programs of study. Eastern Arizona College is the oldest member of the Arizona Community College system and is fully accredited by The Higher Learning Commission.


Position Summary and Organizational Relationship:

The Instructor of English as a Second Language reports to the Dean of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Fine Arts.




Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Foreign Languages, or Education with a background in language instruction Experience teaching language acquisition courses Ability to relate effectively to students from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds, learning orientations, and levels of preparation Willing and able to teach late afternoon, evening, and summer courses as needed Ability to work well within a departmental structure and with other faculty in the design and implementation of competency-based curriculum and assessment protocols Experience using computers for supplemental and mediated instruction Ability to teach in both a face-to-face and an online learning environment




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in teaching English as a second language TESOL or comparable certification Experience teaching English as a second language Fluency in a foreign language


Essential Functions:

  • Teach English reading, writing, and conversational skills to students who are English language learners.
