Student Affairs at Auburn University is excited to begin the search for an Assistant HVACR /Equipment Mechanic! This individual will assist in performing maintenance and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, and other physical building systems in Student Affairs.

Essential Functions
  • Completes preventative maintenance on air conditioning units, fan coil units, and other motors and equipment.
  • Diagnosis problems, repairs and replaces equipment, unit, and parts.
  • Replaces and installs equipment such as heating and air conditioning units, appliances, compressors, pneumatic systems, pumps, and motors.
  • Repairs and replaces components of units such as thermostats, pneumatic actuator, pneumatic lines and filters, controls, driers, fan motor, and leaking coils.
  • Monitors and cleans boiler system to maintain proper water temperature.
  • Cleans equipment, tools, and shop area including disposing of hazardous materials.
  • May maintain a computer database for work activities, supplies, and accountability of equipment.
  • May assist with the repair, and or, placement of commercial kitchen equipment, residential appliances; including but limited to ovens, fryers, washer and dryers, and dish washers.
  • May assist with the repair, and or, replacement of commercial refrigeration units; including walk-in coolers and freezers.
  • Repairs and replaces plumbing components associated with building heating and cooling systems.
Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Skills and Abilities
  • Must have knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, kitchen and refrigeration systems, comfort cooling principles, plumbing, gas pipe fitting, and pneumatic controls.

  • Experience with maintenance on refrigeration and commercial kitchen equipment. Experience with maintenance on HVAC systems.
  • Experience with plumbing and electrical systems.
